Get Ready for Laughs and Fun
at Sunday Shows
In an era of tough financial choices, this is a no-brainer for parents of elementary school age children, and even adults of all ages. Alexander, King of Jesters will take to the Huntington High School stage this Sunday (Jan. 30) for a show that promises to have the audience laughing from start to finish – maybe even rolling on the floor.
General seating tickets will be available at the door for $10. Doors open at 12:30 p.m. The show is a doubleheader with The Silly Dilly Band kicking-off the fun at 1 p.m. The high energy interactive children's music band performs many original songs that take audiences on an exciting journey. We perform familiar songs with a very special Silly Dilly flair!
"Our music brings everyone to their feet while joining us in song and movement," according to The Silly Dilly Band's website. "Shows include very colorful costumes, props and music that is filled with beautiful harmonies and exciting lyrics that truly put a smile on everyone's face."
The main event will feature the world renowned Alexander, King of Jesters. "He will entertain us just like a real jester did for the royal courts of medieval times," said Joan R. Fretz, district director of fine and performing arts. "His mind bending tricks and imaginative spirit will transport us back in time. Through his antics, audiences come to better understand the value of non-verbal cues and communication."
Alex the Jester has been featured on television and performed across the world in comedy and arts festivals and been featured on television. His shows are hilarious and known to cause smiles to break out on the faces of even the most serious individuals.
Sunday's show is sponsored by the Huntington School District's Arts-in-Education Committee. Proceeds from the event will go directly to children's arts programming across all grade levels from kindergarten through twelfth grade.
Huntington's AIE committee presents programs designed to enhance the study of literature, humanities, mathematics, science, fine and performing arts, health and character education. Students are provided with opportunities to visit and learn about the unique historical sites throughout Huntington. There is a special emphasis on providing programs for single grade levels that connect with specific curriculum objectives.
AIE committee members are local parent volunteers. Ms. Fretz advises and helps coordinate the committee, which receives support from the Huntington Council of PTA's and the district.
The AIE committee researches and plans cultural arts and exploratory programs linked directly to core curriculum for every grade level. Students participate in a wide range of experiences from seeing their own pieces of creative writing performed by professional actors and chatting with famous authors to working with real scientists and "meeting" characters from American history.
