Trayvon Toney Named All-State

The New York State Sportswriters' Assn. has named Huntington High School junior Trayvon Toney to the Class A All-State defense third team after the talented athlete helped lead the Blue Devils into the play-offs last fall.

The 6'2, 220 lb. Toney was selected for the All-State team after a sensational season at linebacker. He's a multiple tool player who can run, catch, block, tackle and read plays very well.

"When Trayvon gears up, he's ready to play," said Steve Muller, Huntington's head coach. "He's a young man that just loves to play. He enjoys tough competition. He likes a challenge. He's a gamer."

Toney hits very hard and is strong enough to bring down even the biggest running backs. He moves well and has excellent acceleration. He can slap down passes, pick them off, sack the quarterback on a blitz or chase him out of the pocket or scoop up a fumble and return it for big yardage.

"He's a great teammate and plays really hard," Muller said. "Trayvon is right there when it's crunch time. We're excited that he's been named to the All-State football team. He's got a great future. He's one of our best."

Toney starred at running back on offense and was rarely off the field last field. "He can be an electrifying player when he gets going," Muller said.
