Woodhull Modular Project
Nears Completion

An initiative to provide additional classroom space at Woodhull Intermediate School by installing a four room modular complex is nearing completion with occupancy expected within days.

"With the energizing of the building on Monday, January 10th, we are in the final stages of preparing the units for student occupancy on January 18th," said David H. Grackin, assistant superintendent for finance and management services.

New carpeting and tile flooring has been installed in rooms and the main hallway. This week the contractor will be testing the heating units and bringing them to operational status. "Our staff will then clean the modular rooms from top to bottom, install furniture and shelving and move teacher and student supplies into the units," Mr. Grackin said.

Wireless computer technology has been installed. "This week, district technicians will install desktop computers and check their functionality on our network," Mr. Grackin added.

The new modular complex will provide some breathing room for Woodhull students and teachers. Each of the four classrooms has its own heating unit. There are also restrooms in the complex, which sits just north of the existing building. M-Space was awarded bids for general contracting and plumbing. Locust Valley Electrical was awarded the bid for electrical work.
