Retired Teacher Aide Passes Away

Lynne Aloe, a longtime Huntington School District special education teacher aide who retired last September, passed away on Sunday, January 30 after a long battle with cancer. She was 58 years old.

Mrs. Aloe began working in Huntington on September 1, 1986. She retired 24 years later on September 15, 2010 as a result of her illness. Her daughter, Kim Kowalski, is a teacher aide at Washington Primary School.

"Lynne was one of the kindest people that I have ever met and had the pleasure of calling my friend," said Michelle Marino, Southdown Primary School principal. "We worked together for many years, starting at the Woodhull Kindergarten Center and then again at Southdown when it became a primary school. She was dedicated to her job and truly adored the children that she worked with."

Visiting will be at Commack Abbey Funeral Home (96 Commack Road, Commack 11725) on Friday, February 4 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.

In addition to her daughter, Mrs. Aloe is survived by her husband, Aldo and son-in-law, Thomas.

"Her sense of humor and love of life left a strong impression on everyone she met," Mrs. Marino said. "She will truly be missed."
