Hurricane Forces Monday Tryout/Practice Cancellation
Hurricane Irene is already forcing cancellations. Huntington High School athletic team tryouts and practices have been cancelled for Monday. Practices and tryouts will resume Tuesday morning as previously scheduled. Athletes needing to re-qualify for fall season participation can do so in the nurse's office on Tuesday morning between 7:30-10:30 a.m.
Depending on the respective sport, morning tryouts will be held on Tuesday at 8 a.m. while evening sessions will begin at 5 p.m.
Teams will hold their tryout/practice sessions at Huntington High School with the following exceptions:
Swim team members who have re-qualified for participation should report to the Huntington Yacht Club at 7:45 a.m. Swimmers who still need to re-qualify should report to the high school nurse's office at 7:30 a.m. and after they are cleared to participate, report to the Huntington Yacht Club.
Golf team members should report to the nurse's office for re-qualification at 7:15 a.m. on Tuesday morning and then go to Sunken Meadow State Park golf course at 9 a.m. for a team meeting. Tryouts will follow at the course at 10:15 a.m.
The boys' and girls' soccer teams will hold tryouts on Tuesday at Huntington High School and then begin their off-site tryouts on Wednesday.
