Lillientstein's Short Film in First Exposure Festival
Huntington High School senior David Lillienstein's short film, "Walk Through Hell," will be screened at the annual First Exposure Festival at the Cinema Arts Centre in Huntington on Sunday, May 15 at 4 p.m.
Mr. Lillienstein is a promising young filmmaker who has studied under Huntington teacher Heather Swan. His short is one of 15 films chosen for the festival from among entries in the Long Island Media Arts Showcase.
The festival will honor the student-artists for "their hard work and dedication to the craft of filmmaking," said Michelle Isabelle-Stark, director of the Suffolk County Film Commission, which is sponsoring the event. Each of the participating filmmakers will receive a DVD compilation of the 15 films and Certificate of Recognition from Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy.
Admission to the festival is free and there is open seating. However, reservations are strongly encouraged. Call (631) 423-7611 extension 18 to secure a seat. Refreshments will be served following the screening.
"This is a wonderful honor for David," Huntington Superintendent John J. Finello said. "We have a great video program at Huntington High School. Our students have created some remarkable short films."
Each of the 15 films will also be evaluated by officials from the Cinema Arts Centre, Stony Brook Film Festival and the Hamptons International Film Festival for possible inclusion in their respective programs.
The Cinema Arts Centre is located at 423 Park Avenue in Huntington. Visit www.cinemaartscentre.org for more information about the CAC and its programs.
