Flower Hill Reads for Make-A-Wish

A recent story hour at Flower Hill Primary School that drew 30 participants helped raise $200 for the Suffolk Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Sponsored by teacher Tracey McManus' third grade class, the story hour was just one of the ways the class has been raising money for the charitable organization. Since March, Mrs. McManus' class has raised more than $2,400 toward its ultimate goal of $7,000.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation "grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy," according to the organization's website.

Huntington High School Key Club members Ashley Angstadt, Cynthia Gowani, Ashley Melgar, Christine O'Grady and Aleia Isolde helped facilitate the story hour. "During the story hour, the students were broken up by grade level and read to by the third graders in my class," Mrs. McManus said. "Key Club members aided in the supervision of each of the grade level groups."
