Sophomore Holly Blakley grabbed honorable mention honors in “category D” for 9th - 10th graders. All three teenage writers are students in Huntington English teacher Kelly Quintero’s creative writing course.
An awards ceremony will take place at the Walt Whitman Birthplace in West Hills on Sunday, May 30, at 12 p.m. Mark Doty, nationally recognized poet, will read selections from his poetry and from the poetry of Walt Whitman. The public is invited to attend.
