Flower Hill Hands Get Dirty for Arbor Day

Flower Hill School teachers Anne Gordon and Linda Sauer helped their second grade students gain a better understanding of Arbor Day as the youngsters got their hands dirty planting a tree in the open courtyard area.
After the Japanese Bellflower was put in place, students shoveled dirt around its roots and then read a related poem to complete the occasion. The tree is expected to reach 20-30 feet in height and produce fragrant flowers. Parents said the tree will be a “terrific tribute and a lasting legacy” for the students involved in the Arbor Day activities.
