Finley-8 Girls’ Basketball
Keeps Pace

It was a season of ups-and-downs for the J. Taylor Finley Middle School eighth grade girls’ basketball team, which closed out the year with a 4-4-1 record under head coach Phil Lowe.
Finley was led by Molly Brambil (six points, four steals average per game), Megan Healy (eight points, five rebounds, three steals per game), Emily Saltman (eight points, three steals per game), Elizabeth Eichenberger (eight rebounds per game), Sara Totura (five points, six rebounds per game), Morgan Mars (five rebounds per game) and Kimberly Smith (four points, five rebounds per game). Brambil, Healy and Saltman captained the 15-player squad.
Lowe called Finley a “team with untapped potential that played up to its individual potential by the middle to the end of the season. As team confidence improved, team performance improved.”
The coach sung the praises of all the key players, stating that Brambil (“excellent ball handler; quick hands and feet, tough competitor”), Healy (“very physical; penetrates lane; tough defender and rebounder; good shooter; can finish fast breaks”), Saltman (“very good ball handler; penetrates lane; nice shot; can finish fast break; very good defender; quick hands and feet”), Eichenberger (“tough rebounder; good low-post moves; runs floor”), Totura (“very athletic; competitive; rebounds and defends well; can score inside”), Mars (“athletic; can play defense well; rebounds and can run the floor”) and Smith (“runs floor well; can finish fast break; quick hands and feet; tough rebounder”) were gifted.
Blue Devil fans can’t wait to see how the group performs on the high school level next winter.
