New Coaches for Finley Boys’ Track

A new coaching staff is in place for the J. Taylor Finley Middle School boys’ track and field team. Tim Madden has been appointed head coach and Michael Marinello will be the Falcons’ assistant coach.

Madden is a physical education teacher at Finley. He has worked in the district since September 2002 and holds an undergraduate degree from SUNY College at Cortland and a Master’s degree from Stony Brook University.

Marinello, who came to the district in September 1995, teaches physical education at Woodhull Intermediate School. He is also the Blue Devil varsity golf coach and has coached wrestling, baseball and tennis in Huntington. He obtained a BS degree at Springfield College in 1990 and a Master’s degree at Stony Brook University in 1994.

“I am looking forward to coaching track this spring at Finley,” Madden said. “My goal is to help further develop and enhance the thriving track program at the high school, headed by my friend Ron Wilson.”

Last spring Finley finished the season with a 5-1 record. The Falcons claimed victories over Wyandanch (75-33), Oldfield (59-55), Elwood (67-52), Hauppauge (63-46) and Kings Park (93-20). A loss to East Northport (55-46) was the only blemish in an otherwise perfect year.

The 34-member team was led by seventh graders Tyler Wolfe and Josh Watkins and eighth graders Grant Siele and Mike Lentinello.
