Huntington Freshman
Dress for Success

Some of their Huntington High School peers often did a double-take as a group of freshmen business management course students dressed for success every Wednesday during the spring semester.

The teenagers explored “every aspect of management, including the art of professionalism,” business teacher Suzi Biagi said. “They learned about the ‘Halo Effect’ and how first impressions go a long way.”

The teenagers were a willing audience and took the strategies and tactics presented and ran with them. “These students believe they performed better, were more on task and felt more respected by peers as well as adults on the days they dressed up,” Mrs. Biagi said. “I agree with them.”

The freshmen said they felt “energized and more serious” about their daily missions. “I have every intention of continuing the ‘Dress Up Wednesday’ tradition next year and will encourage all of my students to participate in this living experiment and life skill practice,” Mrs. Biagi said.

With the business world becoming increasingly more competitive, Mrs. Biagi believes “the students need to practice and perfect their image to possibly give them just one more advantage over the competition.”
