SEPTA Gala Draws Packed House

A record-setting crowd turned out for the Huntington Special Education PTA’s annual fundraising bash at the Bay Club, enjoying good food, dancing, a live auction and an opportunity to contribute to a cause that directly impacts hundreds of young people.
“Sunset and Sounds on the Bay” is a popular event that raises money for grant programs and other initiatives that benefit Huntington School District special education students. Beautiful weather combined with the Bay Club’s perch on Huntington Bay, contributed to visually stunning views and an enjoyable atmosphere.
The Willie Steel Band entertained guests, who dined on a lavish meal. A highlight of the evening was the live auction, which drew an enthusiastic field of active bidders. Participants were in wide agreement the sold-out evening was a spectacular night.
Proceeds from the event surpassed the goal of organizers. SEPTA, which is a district-wide organization, sponsors informative programs, funds grants to obtain supplies, materials and resources to support student programs and awards scholarships to graduating seniors.
SEPTA’s fundraising also supports supplementary software and technology for Life Skills classes along with the purchase of speech and language materials, sensory integration equipment and games and materials for the district’s Friendship clubs.
SEPTA’s 2011 gala is set for Saturday, May 21 at the Bay Club.
