The Huntington Booster Club’s summer co-ed tennis camp is always one of the most popular around. This year’s camp will again be held on the Huntington High School courts. Boys and girls ranging from kindergarten through eighth grade are eligible to register. The camp will run from June 28 – July 2. Tuition is $125 per child and there is a ten percent discount for participating siblings.

Veteran Blue Devil head coach and physical education teacher Jamie Fishlow is back as the program director. The goal of the camp is to improve individual skills and to develop a basic understanding of tennis, including its rules. Tennis rackets will be provided to those needing one for camp participation.

There are two 90-minute camp sessions available: 9 to 10:30 a.m. or 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon. The camp will utilize the six-court complex at the high school. Beginner to intermediate ability levels are welcome to attend. Each camper will receive a t-shirt.

Participants will be grouped according to their age and current level of ability. There will be conditioning drills, skill development stations, contests and games. The camp has been designed to help each participant develop the skills and confidence necessary to become a competitive tennis player. Each day a particular skill or stroke will be emphasized.

Mr. Fishlow has more than two decades of experience working with young people of all ages. Tennis rackets will be provided to players if needed.
