Finley Inducts 80 into Junior Honor Society

 

The J. Taylor Finley Middle School National Junior Honor Society chapter inducted 80 current seventh graders into its ranks during an evening ceremony that included many traditional elements, including a candle lighting segment and special member pledge.

 

“The induction went really well,” faculty advisor Matthew Perlongo said. “The students were all excited to be joining the National Junior Honor Society and the parents were proud to have their children honored with a ceremony.” 

 

This year’s honor society officers, Alex Castillo, Katherine Gerdes, and Natalie Lanzisero assisted during the ceremony. Finley Principal John Amato gave an inspirational address, which was followed by the time-honored candle ceremony conducted by the officers. The new inductees received certificates, member cards and pins.

 

Mr. Amato called it a “proud night” for the students and their families. “Next year they will complete their community service, leadership and citizenship requirements as eighth graders.”

 

The new inductees include Santiago Alzate, Cristina Bateman, Kelly Beatty, Charles Beers, Sofia Bialkowski, Rachel Boisclair, Megan Boyce, Leah Butz, Stephen Cadorette, Alexandra Caffrey, Helena Calenzo, Olivia Castillo, Elizabeth Corrao, Elizabeth Cotter, Kaitlin Dayton, Katherine Duval, Justin Edgar-McNerney, Kayla Eidle, Michael Fasciano, Jasmine Fernandez, John Foley, Heather Forster, Fiona Greir, Samantha Glicker, Christopher Glowacky, Anna Goldenbaum, Hannah Grenier, Scott Gulizio, Hillary Hardardt, Isabelle Harman, Zachary Hearl, David Horchos, Omotayo Ikuomensian, Henry Irwin, Ben Kaplan, Haylee Karpman, Caitlin Knowles, Thomas Kouttron and Meaghan Lawlor.

 

Charlotte Levinson, Madiso Lofaso, Patrick Lombardi, Justin Loturco, Edgar Magana-Ochoa, Timothy Mattiace, Hope McCallion, Shannon McGovern, Shane Meyers, John Montalbano, Jason Moreira, Lily Morris, Hanna Murphy, Ellaha Nadi, Michael Nemaric, Kathleen Nugent, Kylie Palmer, Hayley Petrizzi, Suzanne Petryk, Mary Frances Pulizzotto, Matthew Reed, John Reilly, Daniel Reiver, Madeline Riggs, Daniel Rose, Joseph Saginaw, Amy Schmelter, Ruhi Shah, Mary Sheehan, Stephen Shivers, Marina Siegel, Gabriel Smith, Lindsay Sullivan, Veronica Tonissen, Can Toprak, Jessica Tucker, Meelod Wafajow, Kaitlin Wascher, Justin Weigold, Brendan Wirth and Lana Ziegler were also inducted during the recent ceremony.

 

The evening wrapped-up in the school lobby with snacks and refreshments, which were provided by the Finley PTA. Parents and students chatted with Mr. Perlongo, Mr. Amato and Assistant Principal Kenneth Parham.
