Science Olympiad Night Draws Near
A night of science related fun is planned for Thursday (Jan. 21) night at Huntington High School from 6-9 p.m. The event is free and open to the community. Refreshments will be served.
Science Olympiad Night offers participants an evening of scientific investigation and fun. Students will test their bridge building skills and trajectory skills, conduct a Rube Goldberg experiment, display their knowledge of ornithology and exercise scientific observation skills.
The evening replaces the department’s old “trilogy night,” said David Casamento, district director of science. “The difference between this event and trilogy is that we opened up the competitions to all students in grades 9 to12,” Mr. Casamento said.
Among the competitions featured will be catapult, bridge building and ornithology, “write it/do it,” and Rube Goldberg. “In addition, the two teams we are entering in the Brookhaven National Lab Science Bowl will go head to head at the end of the evening,” Mr. Casamento said.
For more information about the evening contact Mr. Casamento at 673-2078 or dcasamento@hufsd.edu.
