Huntington Freshman Earns National Science Photo Award

Ari Moskowitz, a Huntington High School freshman whose captivating four-photo collage documents the change of seasons in Huntington, has been chosen as a national finalist/runner-up in the Earth Science Week photo contest.
Mr. Moskowitz, who is a student in teacher Lori Pyzocha’s honors biology class, is one of just four finalists in the nationwide competition that drew many impressive entries. This year’s topic was “How Climate Shapes My World.”
“We are proud of Ari for winning this award and for his great work,” Ms. Pyzocha said. Participants were asked to submit a photo that best represents their hometown’s climate for a mock travel brochure. “No matter where you are, your climate affects - and is affected by - air, water, land, and living things,” states the contest rules. “Use your camera to get the best possible ‘Climate Capture.’”
According to Earth Science Week, which is sponsored by the American Geological Institute, thousands of students participate in its events and photo contests each year.
