Stuff the Bus Food Drive
Pushes On

The Huntington High School student government saw a need and has responded with the “Stuff the Bus” campaign, which aims to restock the empty shelves of local food banks. The group is on a mission and doesn’t plan on failing.

Students are collecting canned vegetables, canned soups, canned beans, spaghetti sauce, canned tuna, packaged macaroni and cheese, rice, pasta, cereal, jars of peanut butter, jars of jelly, bath soap, toothpaste and hot chocolate mix, and similar items.

Instead of merely accumulating the items in a room, boxing them and calling someone to come and pick-up the goods, student government officers and faculty advisors Anthony Troffa and Fred Bisogno arranged for Huntington Coach Corp. to donate use of a bus, which will be “stuffed” and used to deliver the bounty.

Organizers are asking community members to bring items to the Huntington High School gym on Saturday, January 16 between 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. and students “stuff the bus.” All donations will go to Huntington community food banks and pantries. “We hope to get a lot of people up to the high school to stuff the bus,” Mr. Bisogno said.
