The Huntington boys’ basketball team trailed early and never did make up its deficit en route to losing at Hauppauge, 58-39. The Blue Devils were down 27-15 at halftime and trailed 46-19 after three quarters.

 

Huntington’s John Patron scored 22 points, including three 3-point buckets. Tyre Brown added seven points. The Blue Devils closed out their league schedule with a 4-10 mark.

Playoff Loss

Jackie Waldron scored 17 points but the Huntington girls’ basketball team lost to Eastport-South Manor, 53-40 in the Suffolk Class A playoffs. Meredith McCourt scored eight points and Lauren Visbal added seven more.

 

Huntington took an early 11-6 lead before ESM went on a 34-16 run over the second and third quarters to grab a commanding 40-27 advantage. Raynisha Witherspoon pumped in six points and Emma Hayes-Hurley scored two points.

New Track Coach

The Huntington School Board has appointed Tim Madden as the new boys’ track coach at J. Taylor Finley Middle School. A second coach is expected to be appointed the next time trustees meet on March 1. Madden will be able to hit the ground running since he is a physical education teacher at the school.

March Madness

Christopher’s Courtyard Café will be the place to be on Sunday March 7 between 2-5 p.m. if you are a Blue Devil sports fan. The Huntington Booster Club is holding its annual March Madness reception.

 

Admission is priced at $50 for tickets purchased in advance or $60 at the door. No one under 21 years of age will be admitted. To purchase tickets in advance send a check payable to the “Huntington Booster Club” to P.O. Box 2294, Huntington, New York 11743. (Include name, address, phone number, e-mail address.)

 

The reception will include unlimited refreshments and food. Blue Devil supporters can stop by at any time during the afternoon, stay for the full three hours or any portion of it.
