Huntington Booster Club Sponsoring Boys’ Basketball Camp

The Huntington Booster Club is sponsoring a summer boys’ basketball camp this summer at J. Taylor Finley Middle School for students entering grades 3-8. Sessions will July 12-16 from 9 a.m. to noon each day. The registration fee is $125 and a ten percent sibling discount is available.

The camp will be directed by Tim Madden, the assistant coach for the Blue Devil varsity basketball team. Players will be group by age and ability and will participate in daily conditioning drills, skill development stations, contests and games. The program is focused on helping players build the necessary skills and confidence to be a competitive basketball player.

Mr. Madden teaches physical education at Finley Middle School and has coached at the middle school, junior varsity and varsity levels. Huntington varsity boys’ basketball coach Mike Schmitz, a veteran coach with more than three decades of successful experience, will also be on the camp’s staff and help direct program segments.

The registration fee includes a camp t-shirt. This marks the first time the Huntington Booster Club is sponsoring a summer boys’ basketball camp. Cap sessions will concentrate on both technical and tactical training and serve as an opportunity for new and current players to improve their game.
