New Vocal Master Class in Summer Arts Program
The OOMPAH summer arts enrichment program is filling up in the Huntington School District as students register for traditional favorites and an assortment of new courses, including a vocal master class for students entering grades 5-9.
The exciting new vocal course will run in the 10:00 – 10:50 a.m. time slot, Monday through Friday during the summer program, which runs from June 28 through July 23.
“Students will enjoy the benefits of vocal training as well as learn a solo vocal piece,” according to a course description. “The class will learn a variety of NYSSMA solos, in addition to classical and folk repertoire. The program includes solo performance technique as well as how to assess oneself when performing. Have fun while receiving professional vocal coaching!”
The summer arts program is open to students entering grades 4-9. Registration in up to four courses is permitted. Registration for classes is limited and is on a first come, first served basis. Students from surrounding school districts are also welcome, provided they supply their own instrument for music related classes.
There is a $95 fee for each summer course, which is identical to last year’s and includes all supplies and an OOMPAH (Organization of Music Parents of Huntington) t-shirt. A $45 registration fee will also be assessed to cover course materials. There is a family discount of $50 for each additional child registering for four classes.
