Site of Monday’s School Board Meeting Changed

In anticipation of a large crowd turning out for the Huntington School Board meeting scheduled for Monday, April 19 at 7:30 p.m., trustees have decided to move the session from Jack Abrams Intermediate School to Huntington High School.

Members of the Huntington Town Board will be present for the meeting and a huge crowd is expected to attend. The high school auditorium has 1,850 seats. Trustees were concerned that the Jack Abrams School auditorium and parking fields are both too small to handle the possible throng.

There will be several opportunities for public commentary at the Monday night meeting. Many district residents have been upset over violence in the Huntington Station area. Some have called for swapping town hall for Jack Abrams School. Each of the parties is currently studying such a possibility.

Trustees will also adopt a proposed 2010/11 budget during Monday’s meeting. Residents will go to the polls on Tuesday, May 18 from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. to vote on the financial plan.

Next Monday night’s meeting agenda will be posted on the district’s website at www.hufsd.edu no later than Friday.
