Coraor and Kouttron Pace Huntington Scientists

The Huntington High School science research program under teacher Lori Pyzocha continues to gain steam behind a group of smart and talented students. Seniors Anthony Kouttron (first) and Everett Coraor (third) recently earned top honors at a science competition hosted by Nassau Community College that drew 200 top high school scholars from across Long Island.
Huntington’s powerhouse group at the event also included Jacob Roday, Matthew Angeliadis, Jason Chisolm, Megan Hansen, Holly Flores, Marissa Schedler, and Brittany Pucci-Schmitz.
The Huntington teenagers submitted an interesting set of entries into the Nassau competition including:
• Matt Angeliadis (9th)
The Effect of Streamer Folding on the Overall Flight Time of a Model Rocket
• Jason Chisolm (10th)
The Effect of Color on Mice Entering a Home
• Everett Coraor (12th)
Experimental Insights into Evolved Lavas on Olympus Mons, Mars
• Holly Flores (10th)
The Effects of Savantism on Teenagers
• Megan Hansen (9th)
The Effect of Cost of the Use of Styrofoam Trays vs. Alternative Materials
• Anthony Kouttron (12th)
Utilizing Principles of Matter to Enhance the Efficiency of the Power Grid
• Brittany Pucci-Schmitz (12th grade)
Dissolved oxygen levels in Huntington Harbor; The effect of discharge contamination on dissolved oxygen levels
• Jacob Roday (9th)
The Effect of Parachute Modifications on a Model Rocket
• Marissa Schedler (10th)
The Effect of Anorexia on the Conscience of Youthful Minds
Coraor Captures First Place
In another major feather in the Huntington science research program’s proverbial hat, Mr. Coraor was one of six students awarded first place honors in the 2010 New York State Science and Engineering Fair competition held at the New York Hall of Science in Queens. The event drew an elite group of about 200 Intel competitors.
