Think, Know, Act at Finley Middle School
The J. Taylor Finley Middle School PTA and administration will host a one-hour parent workshop presented by the Huntington Youth Bureau on alcohol and drugs on Wednesday, April 14th at 7:30 p.m. The session is free and open to everyone.
“Alcohol and Drugs: A Guide on Risk Behaviors in Adolescents and Teens” is a 60-minute long presentation that no parent should miss. The session is part of the Huntington Youth Bureau’s prevention services program. The program is designed to assist parents interested in helping their child make safe and health choices.
“Adolescents and teens are faced with many challenges in their daily lives,” also to a promotional flyer created for the event. “This presentation is designed to help parents understand these challenges and help their children in making safe, healthy choices. Parents will receive information regarding substance use trends common among adolescents and teens along with strategies on how to talk to their children about drugs and alcohol.”
The presentation will be led by prevention specialists Paula L. Castiglia and Lisa Spatafora. The pair is associated with the Huntington Drug and Alcohol Counseling & Education Center. Related workshops are planned for students over a three month period. The PTA is pursuing the initiative after earlier surveying parents.
