Huntington School Board Notes
Huntington School Board members have approved a probationary appointment for Ronald Wilson to a newly created position of dean of students at Huntington High School. He was simultaneously granted a leave of absence from his position as a classroom teacher at Jack Abrams Intermediate School. His probationary period will run through Sept. 9, 2011.
Mr. Wilson is a 1994 Huntington graduate and is the head coach of the varsity boys’ winter and spring track and field teams and the junior varsity football team. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in elementary education at St. John’s University in 1998 and later obtained a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies at Stony Brook University.
Trustees also took the following actions:
• Accepted the resignations of Huntington High School security guard Christopher Bamfo and Teacher Center secretary Amy Pechar.
• Granted a leave of absence for Woodhull Intermediate School teacher Susan Curtin, effective Oct. 2 through Jan. 4, 2010.
• Approved the retirement of teacher aide Stephany Moore, effective Sept. 30, 2009.
• Approved the full-time appointments of high school security guard Steven Muller and teacher aide Doreatha Bailey.
• Appointed Brooke Bene as a leave replacement classroom teacher at Jack Abrams School for the 2009/10 school year.
• Approved Danielle Reminick to work as a long-term substitute classroom teacher at Woodhull School through Jan. 4, 2010.
• Authorized the addition of Walter Wilson to the list of approved security guard substitutes. He will be paid $11.45 per hour for the hours he works.
• Approved the recall of 3-hour teacher aide Annie Bastien from a list of previously excessed staff members.
• Appointed Megan Jost (Jack Abrams School/Sept. 9 – Jan. 29, 2010) and Catherine Alexander (Flower Hill School/Sept. 8 – TBD) as long-term substitute teachers for staff members taking leaves of absence.
• Approved a .6 part-time appointment for high school foreign language teacher Deidre Meyer.
