Ted Glass Appointed Special Ed Chairman

 

Ted Glass has been appointed to serve as the special education department chairperson at Huntington High School. He replaces Rebecca Arlin, who will be a special education teacher this year.

 

Mr. Glass, who resides in Rockville Centre, worked as an assistant principal at H.B. Thompson Middle School in the Syosset school district last year, overseeing the special education and guidance programs, helping to create the master schedule and the state testing schedule, serving as chairman of both the sub-committee on special education and the child study team and handling tasks related to professional develop, observation and evaluation of staff members.

 

A graduate of SUNY College at Oneonta (B.S. business education, 1984) and Dowling College (M.S. special education, 1995), Mr. Glass earned his state administrative certification at CUNY-Baruch College in 2001.

 

Prior to his stint as an administrator in Syosset, Mr. Glass was supervisor of special education for grades 7-12 in the Oceanside school district from February 2001 to September 2008. He has also worked in the New York City school system as a special education teacher (grades 2-9, Sept. 1984-Sept. 1991), crisis intervention teacher (Sept. 1991-Jan. 1994), vocational assessment evaluator (Jan. 1994-Sept. 1999) and supervisor of special education (Sept. 1999-Feb. 2001).

 

Huntington school officials sifted through eight applications and interviewed all eight candidates prior to recommending Mr. Glass for appointment. He will be eligible for tenure on August 25, 2012.
