Finley Sports Participation Remains Sky High
Year-in and year-out participation in the after school athletics program at J. Taylor Finley Middle School has been at a level nothing short of astonishing. That tradition is continuing this fall as more than one-third of the building’s enrollment is a member of one of the seven teams.
The Finley girls’ soccer team is the school’s largest with 51 players. The seventh grade football roster is filled with 40 players and the eighth grade gridiron team fields a squad of 35. Boys’ soccer (35 players), field hockey (34), co-ed cross country (31) and girls’ tennis (16) also have high levels of interest.
In all, there are 242 students spread over Finley’s fall teams. The total includes 110 on three boys’ teams, 101 on the three girls’ squads and 31 on the one co-ed team.
