Catching up With Erica Meyer

Since graduating from Huntington High School in June 2008, Erica Meyer has been a very busy person. Today she’s in the midst of an ambitious and challenging six-year academic program as she moves toward a career in criminal justice.

The Huntington alum is participating in a joint degree program that combines a bachelor’s degree at SUNY Albany and a law degree through Albany Law School of Union University.

Ms. Meyer said she became interested in studying for a career in law after participating the Town of Huntington’s youth court program as a high school freshman. The School of Criminal Justice at Albany is ranked second in the country by U.S. News and World Report magazine.

While she is enjoying her college experiences and working hard to meet the significant academic demands the joint degree program places upon her, Ms. Meyer has still found time for various community service activities through her sorority, Alpha Epsilon Phi. She raised money for AIDS awareness by participating in AIDS Walk 2009, where she was one of the top fundraisers for the event. Now she’s searching for a new challenge.

Ms. Meyer, who played on the Blue Devil tennis team and won the Coach’s Award as a senior, said she has fond memories of Huntington High School and keeps in contact with many friends and former classmates, now spread out across the region and country. She has fond memories of Huntington High and remains in contact with many of her friends. She expects to return to her alma mater next June to see her sister, Andrea graduate with the Class of 2010.
