Blue Devil Field Hockey Honors Seniors

The Huntington field hockey team gave its seniors an afternoon to remember as the Blue Devils paid tribute to six players for all they’ve done for the program over the past four years.

Emily Bindrim, Emma Copp, Yvette Hallman, Alexandra Kimchy, Elizabeth McGovern and Isabel Sorrentino were feted by their teammates and by Blue Devil coaches Jillian Talleur, Kathy Wright and Nancy Wilson.

Underclassmen decorated the bleachers with colorful balloons and made decorative posters celebrating each of the seniors. The younger girls contributed money to buy flowers for their older teammates and assembled goody bags for them.

A short profile was read for each of the seniors and their future plans were announced. Some members of the group became emotional and each expressed appreciation to their teammates and coaches for the ceremony.

“It was a very nice touch to honor these great young ladies who have meant so much to our field hockey program,” said Georgia D. McCarthy, district director of athletics. “We are certainly going to miss them next year.”
