Top Advanced Placement Scholars Recognized

 

Dozens of Huntington High School students have been recognized for their stellar performance on a battery of Advanced Placement exams over the past year.

 

The honorees include a mix of current students along with members of the Class of 2009, which graduated last June. The results are sent to districts in the fall, creating a lag of several months.

 

“We are so proud of these hard working teenagers for not only taking up the challenge of very demanding courses, but for mastering the material,” Superintendent John J. Finello said. “They are an inspiration to everyone at Huntington High School.”

 

Earning National AP Scholar recognition was David Acton, Jeffrey Bishop, Fiona Byrne, Diya Kapur, Kelsey Kunes, Christopher Lau, Kristy Lyons and Natasha Thalla. The honor is given to students who receive an average grade of 4 on all AP exams taken and grades of 4 or higher on eight or more of these tests.

 

AP Scholar with Distinction designees include David Acton, Kevin Bilzi, Jeffrey Bishop, Dillon Blatt, Joseph Bosco, Fiona Byrne, Everett Coraor, Thomas Curley, Nicholas D’Esposito, Julie Forster, Daniel Goldstein, Annabel Jouard, Diya Kapur, Anthony Kouttron, Kelsey Kunes, Alexander Lau, Christopher Lau, Kay Lodge, Kristy Lyons, Michael McCourt, Thomas Monks, Daniel Rabinowitz, Andrew Reiver, Brian Ruggiero, Kathryn Schmitz, Steven Secular, Rebecca Silverman, Tiffany Sorensen, Colleen Teubner, Natasha Thalla, Alanna Tieman, Olivia Torres and Ariel Wertheim.

 

To qualify as an AP Scholar with Distinction a student must average at least a 3.5 on all of their AP exams and grades of 3 or higher on five or more tests.

 

Huntington’s AP Scholar with Honor recipients are Jocelyn Bruckart, Johanna Clifford, Kevin Corcoran, Michael Corcoran, Asmita Das, Andrew Doscas, Caitlin Etri, Leslie Flores, Haley Garofalo, Alexandra Kimchy, Kristen Reardon, Samuel Sainthil, Max Smoller and Clare Tonks. To qualify recipients needed a minimum average score of 3.25 on all AP exams taken and grades of 3 or higher on four or more AP tests.

 

AP Scholars included Michaela Acton, Brandon Berk, Matthew Bishop, Lauren Campbell, Stephanie Chang, Alexander Chisolm, Allison Conlon, Sarah Conte, Christine Corcoran, Morgan Corley, Christina Coughlan, Nicholas DiPaola, Lauren Dipasquala, Lena Freed, Amanda Goldstein, Justin Greenidge, Natalie Hartmann, Kerry Hicks, Amanda Ho, Maya Horton, Marco Lagone, Lauren Narine, Ben Neter, Luke Reigot, Kirk Schneider, Nicholas Schoen, Max Sender, Olivia Sklyarova, Jairo Soriano, Matthew West, Sean Whitney and Olivia Wyrick. AP Scholars must earn grades of 3 or higher on three or more AP exams.

 

This year Huntington students are again challenging themselves academically, with dozens enrolled in a variety of AP courses that are pushing the teenagers past previous intellectual boundaries.
