Car Wash at Finley Middle School on Saturday
Joe Straub has a great idea: Build a set of stairs near the Huntington High School tennis courts that will allow pedestrians easy access up and down the hill near the site. Stairs will be especially welcome during fire drills and other emergencies and might prevent someone from slipping and being injured.
So, Mr. Straub, a member of Boy Scout Troop 877, settled on the project to meet a community service requirement associated with his quest for an Eagle Scout Award. To meet expenses related to the work, Mr. Straub is holding a free car wash at J. Taylor Finley Middle School on Greenlawn Road this Saturday (May 9) from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
While there is no charge to clean cars, Mr. Straub, a Huntington freshman, hopes some patrons will kick-in a donation to support his cause. There will also be home baked goods on sale.
Mr. Straub hopes to get the project underway later this spring. Once he does, community members are invited to stop by the high school tennis complex area to see the progress he is making.
