Parent Funds Transportation to Engeman Theater

Parent David Butler has generously donated funds to cover the cost of two busses to transport Jefferson Primary School students to a performance at the John W. Engeman Theater in Northport.

“It has come to my attention that the first grade teachers at Jefferson are considering a plan to take a field trip to the Northport Theatre, however, the costs for tickets and transportation may be prohibitive,” Mr. Butler wrote in a letter to David H. Grackin, the Huntington School District’s assistant superintendent for finance and management services.  So, the parent sent a check for $608 to cover the transportation expenses.

Huntington School Board members accepted the donation at their last meeting.  “It is my pleasure to contribute to the great work of the teachers in Huntington,” Mr. Butler wrote.

Mr. Butler also sent a separate check for $300 for discretionary items for first grade dual language teacher Mariana Irigoyan’s class.
