Senior Recital Showcases Huntington Seniors

A talented group of teenagers was showcased at the Huntington High School music department’s senior recital. The annual event is open to any senior who wants to take the stage for one final performance prior to graduation.

This year’s program included selections by Jennifer Szilagy (soprano), Jeffrey Bishop (baritone, trombone), Amanda Ho (violin), Remy D’Esposito (piano), Joseph D’Esposito (violin), Christian Wilbur (viola), Andrew Ku (cello), Olivia Sklyarova (piano), Keith Kirkpatrick (French horn), Evan McGann (tuba), Luke Reigot (trumpet), Max Smoller (trumpet) and clarinetists Diya Kapur, John Urban and Emika Wada.

The recital took place in the School Heritage Museum before a crowd of about 50 family members and friends. It was organized by music teacher/orchestra director Lisa Leonardi. The evening included some underclassmen who were invited to round out various ensembles so the seniors could play.

“It is all volunteer,” said Joan R. Fretz, district director of fine and performing arts, about the participants. “Traditionally, it’s an intimate and nostalgic evening when we say goodbye to our seniors and their families who love performing here in Huntington.”
