eBoards of Excellence Awards for Huntington Teachers

Over the past year the use of eBoards has exploded in the Huntington School District as increasing numbers of faculty members view them as an effective and efficient method of improving communication with students and parents.

This past school year six Huntington teachers earned honors at the eBoards of Excellence Awards ceremony sponsored by Seacliff Educational Solutions, Eastern Suffolk BOCES, Western Suffolk BOCES and Nassau BOCES

“This is quite an honor as this is our first full year of implementation,” said Joann Kavanagh, who spearheaded Huntington’s entry into the eBoard world as the district’s instructional technology coordinator. “This award is presented to teachers whose eBoards are outstanding examples of how an eBoard can be used to integrate technology and increase communication in the classroom.”

Huntington’s eBoards of Excellence Award recipients included Mercedes Pena (Spanish, Huntington High School), Christine Amodeo (library media specialist, Woodhull School), Vincent Tannazzo (math, Finley Middle School), Maryann Daly (SEARCH program chairperson), Joanne Tures (third grade, Washington School) and Paul Esposito (fifth grade, Jack Abrams School.)

The Huntington award winners were cited for “integrating technology into their curriculum and promoting a wonderful communication tool for parents and teachers.”

While Mrs. Kavanagh retired at the close of the school year, the district’s commitment to making eBoards available is continuing unabated. Taking over responsibility for instructional technology will be David Casamento, who is entering his second year as district director of science.
