Discount Meal Tickets Available to Huntington Students
Huntington School District parents can eliminate the need for children to carry cash for breakfast and/or lunch purchases. School officials are encouraging parents to take advantage of the cost savings and convenience of purchasing discounted advance breakfast or lunch tickets. The discount program carries savings of five cents per meal on monthly tickets or nearly 14 percent on half-year tickets. Tickets are available in all schools.

Tickets for the half-year (second semester) program are effective from February 3 through June 26, 2009. All tickets must be used within the specified time period and will expire at the end of that period. If a half-year ticket is purchased after the start date (Feb. 3), no reimbursement or credit will be given for already purchased meals. Tickets are non-transferable and non-refundable.
To participate in the program, send a check or money order payable to the Huntington School Lunch Fund to the cafeteria cashier at your child’s school. Parents should indicate on the check the child’s name, grade and teacher.
The lunch program offers a daily choice of the entrée of the day, alternate selection or a sandwich. A complete meal includes three choices out of the five food group choices given including, protein, bread, fruit, vegetable and milk. Students select a minimum of three and a maximum of five choices. The breakfast offerings are equally nutritious and delicious.
The Huntington School District website (www.hufsd.edu) contains a link for the pre-paid ticket form. It can be accessed by logging onto the website a clicking on the link for Resources, then Food Service and then Forms and Files. Students can return completed forms to the school’s cafeteria manager.
