New Huntington Teacher Profiles


Denise Novello and Katerina Voutsinas have been hired by the Huntington School District as long-term substitute teachers to fill in for permanent faculty members who are out on leaves of absence.  The pair comes to the district with impressive credentials.

Denise Novello

Ms. Novello will work at Jefferson Primary School through Nov. 14.  She earned a B.S. degree in economics at SUNY College at Cortland in May 1988 and obtained a Master’s degree in elementary education at Long Island University – C.W. Post College in Dec. 1993.  She has also studied at Dowling College, where she earned a Students with Disabilities, special education initial certificate in May 2008.

 

Prior to coming to Huntington, Ms. Novello worked in various leave replacement and substitute teacher positions in the Commack school district.  She was a 1:1 first grade teacher in Commack from Jan. to June 2008.

 

District officials reviewed 25 applications and conducted eight interviews prior to recommending Ms. Novello for the position.

Katerina Voutsinas

Ms. Voutsinas will work at Flower Hill Primary School through Nov. 26.  She graduated from Cornell University with a B.S. degree in human development in May 2003 and earned a Master’s degree at Hofstra University in elementary education in Dec. 2004.

 

Ms. Novello has worked as a permanent substitute in East Meadow, a leave replacement and permanent substitute in Westhampton Beach and a leave replacement kindergarten teacher in Port Jefferson prior to coming to Huntington.

 

District officials reviewed 10 applications and conducted four interviews prior to recommending Ms. Voutsinas for the position.
