Huntington High School PTSA Off to Energetic Start
The Huntington High School Parent-Teacher-Student Association is off to an energetic start this year. It serves the school in a variety ways, from work on committees to helping maintain an annual scholarship program.
This year’s Huntington PTSA is led by President Anne Connell, Vice-Presidents Suzanne Millner and Elaine May, Recording Secretary Lisa Curran, Corresponding Secretary Erika Rabinowitz, Treasurer Donna Smith and Council Delegates Delphine Barron and Lorraine Corbly.
The group met last week for the first time this year and heard from Principal Carmela Leonardi and Assistant Principal Angelo Noce about various school happenings. Director of Guidance Peter Paternostro and interim college counselor Brianne Schilt were also in attendance and answered many questions.
PTSA membership dues are $8 for parents and teachers and $6 for students. Checks payable to HHS PTSA in the proper amount can be sent along with name, address and phone number/e-mail address to Huntington High School PTSA, Oakwood and McKay Roads, Huntington, NY 11743. Membership can also be secured at any meeting of the group.
The PTSA is busy selling Blue Devil automatic umbrellas. They are small enough to fit in a backpack, purse or briefcase and have an automatic open and close feature. The extra sturdy frame and vented units are priced at $15. Also on sale are Blue Devil luggage tags for $3 (ideal for band equipment, sports bags, Pod chairs and luggage), and limited quantities of mini-school calendars for $2 with a PTSA membership or $5 without a membership. To order, send a check payable to HHS PTSA to the above address.
A membership packet is available on the Huntington School District’s website at www.hufsd.edu. Meeting dates are included on the school calendar, which is also posted on the district website.
