Sponsor a Brick at Huntington High School

Brick FundraiserThere’s still time to purchase an engraved brick through the fundraiser-beautification project at Huntington High School that is being coordinated by the Parent-Teacher-Student Association, Student Government and Shared Decision Making Committee.  The engraved bricks will be laid within the walkway leading to school’s main entrance.

Proceeds from the initiative will be used to pay for development of an outdoor area for student study, relaxation and recreation during free periods at the school.  With an ambitious goal of $40,000, the fundraising effort has been ongoing for months.  A sample brick has been on display at various school events.  The deadline for purchasing bricks has been extended to Oct. 1.  After that date, the bricks will be “baked” and later installed.

Different size bricks are available.  For example, for $100 a 4” x 8” brick can be purchased, offering space for three lines of 14 characters each for engraving.  An 8” x 8” brick is available for $125.  It offers space for six lines of 14 characters each.  Also available is an 8” x 8” bluestone for $250.  It, too, provides space for six lines of 14 characters each.  A one-foot by one-foot piece of bluestone is being sold for $400.  It will provide space for six lines of 14 characters per line.  Each space between words counts as one character.

Brick FundraiserOrganizers of the initiative are reaching out to current students and their families, alumni and the local business community.  “Your children will enjoy seeing their own names or family names engraved in a brick that is part of ‘their’ school,” states a letter to parents.  “Likewise, you will enjoy knowing that all of the funds raised for this program will be dedicated to our school.”

The committee overseeing the project has reserved the right to edit, revise or reject inappropriate or offensive submissions.  Checks should be made payable to: HHS Student Government.  Orders can be dropped off at the high school main office or mailed to Huntington High School, Oakwood & McKay Roads, Huntington, NY 11743.
