Residents Beware of Homecoming Parade Route on Sept. 27

Huntington High School Principal Carmela Leonardi wants local residents to be aware of the school’s homecoming day parade route.  The extravaganza is scheduled to kick-off on Sat. Sept. 27 at 10:30 a.m. near the town parking lot opposite the U.S. Post Office on Gerard Street in Huntington village.

During the period of the parade, several area roads will be closed off to allow for passage of the Huntington Blue Devil marching band, class floats, homecoming king and queen nominees and parade marchers, including students, parents and school and district officials.

Suffolk Police will close off the following roads during portions of the parade: Gerard Street near the parking lot between Green Street and West Neck Road; West Neck Road between Gerard Street and Main Street; Main Street between Gerard Street and New York Avenue; New York Avenue between Main Street and Holdsworth Drive and Holdsworth Drive between New York Avenue and Oakwood Road.

In case of inclement weather, there is no rain date for the parade.
