Huntington Booster Club Golf Outing Set for Oct. 15
Hutch Vanderschuyt, one of Huntington High School’s all-time lacrosse greats, will be honored by the Huntington Booster Club at the group’s second annual golf outing on Wednesday, October 15 at Crab Meadow Golf Course, overlooking the Long Island Sound. Registration for the event is now underway.
A 1965 Huntington graduate, Mr. Vanderschuyt earned All-County honors for the Blue Devil lacrosse and football teams. He went on to star on the University of Maryland lacrosse team as a three-time All-American goalie. Since then he has actively been involved in the Huntington lacrosse program from creating an annual alumni game to helping train young players and coaching youth lacrosse in the community.
The Booster Club golf outing will begin with check-in, lunch and practice on the driving range from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., when a shotgun start will kick-off the action. A dinner is slated for 6:30 p.m. in the clubhouse. The fee for individual golfers is $200 (Foursome - $800). Blue Devil supporters wishing to attend only the dinner can do so for $100.
A variety of special prizes and awards will be presented, including longest drive, nearest to the pin and hole-in-one. Proceeds from the day will go toward the Booster Club’s efforts to provide annual scholarships, purchase equipment, support summer camps and refreshments at athletic events and sports awards nights.
Numerous golf outing sponsorship opportunities exist ranging from the $3,500 Varsity Dinner sponsor to $125 tee and green sponsors. Journal ads are also being sold.
