Nice Spring Season Turnout for Blue Devils
More than 300 students are participating on 13 teams this spring at Huntington High School, including 46 athletes on the Blue Devil girls’ track and field team.
In all, 167 boys are members of seven teams and 117 girls fill the rosters of five teams. Another 40 students are on the co-ed crew team. Georgia D. McCarthy, the district’s director of athletics, said 324 high school students are participating in the sports program this spring.
The girls’ track roster is the biggest of all. Crew and boys’ track and field each have 40 members. The varsity boys’ lacrosse team has a roster of 33 with another 27 players on the JV squad. Varsity and JV baseball have 18 and 20 players, respectively.
The varsity softball team has a roster of 12 and the JV team has 19 members. Varsity boys’ tennis (11), JV boys’ tennis (18), girls’ varsity lacrosse (23) and JV girls’ lacrosse (17) also saw strong turnouts.
