Arson at Finley
An arsonist struck a garage located on the northwest corner of the J. Taylor Finley Middle School campus. The Greenlawn Fire Department responded to the fire and the Suffolk Police also responded to the call and brought in the arson squad to investigate the evening blaze.
“It was apparent that some persons tried to break into the building by prying off the window guards,” Assistant Superintendent David H. Grackin said. “When this failed, they set fire to the door of the building. We will have to replace the door.
The garage is used by the district’s buildings and grounds department.
