Softball Camp on Tap this July in Huntington
There will be a new summer activity in town this July for girls entering grades 4-9. The Huntington Booster Club is sponsoring a softball camp at Huntington High School from July 14 – 18 from 5 – 8 p.m. The registration fee is $115 per children and siblings get a 10 percent discount.
Blue Devil varsity coach Krystle Canino will serve as program director. If it rains, camp activities will move indoors to the high school gym. The goal of the camp is to improve individual skill levels and develop a fundamental understanding of softball.
According to the camp brochure, “Players will be grouped by age and ability. Campers will participate in daily conditioning drills, skill development stations, contests and games. This program is devoted to helping players build the necessary skills and confidence it takes to be a competitive softball player.”
Enrollment is limited. Each camper receives a t-shirt with their registration. To obtain a copy of the camp brochure log onto the Huntington School District’s website at www.hufsd.edu and click on the Athletics link and then the Summer Programs link.
“This is a great opportunity for each athlete to enhance their individual skills as well as have some fun playing fast-pitch softball this summer,” according to the brochure. “We will also be working on advanced skills such as sliding, diving, slapping and pitching and catching.”
