Huntington Boys’ Basketball Wraps up Season

The balls and uniforms have been tucked away and the Huntington boys’ basketball team has moved on after putting another season to rest.  The Blue Devils finished with an 8-6 league mark (9-11 overall) and earned a playoff berth before falling in an exciting game at nearby John Glenn.

Coached by Mike Schmitz and Tim Madden, Huntington was led by all-conference senior Alex Brown (10 points per game) and all-league junior Anthony Brown (10 ppg).  Honorable mention all-league juniors Ted Calligeros and Matt Duffy also made huge contributions.

“This was a fun team to coach,” Schmitz said.  “Because of their outstanding spirit and chemistry, they played each game hard, win or lose.  They honored themselves by qualifying for the playoffs and played a great game against John Glenn in an exciting loss.”

The highlight of the season came when Huntington held Islip to 34 points on the road to clinch a playoff spot.  “The entire team contributed to our success by working hard in practice every day as well as at games,” Schmitz said.
