Woodhull Pasta Night Feeds Crowd of 400
The Woodhull Intermediate School PTA hit a grand slam with this year’s Pasta Night, as a hungry crowd of about 400 turned out for one of the most unique evenings anyone could possibly imagine.
Pasta Night has become an annual winter tradition at Woodhull and usually draws hundreds of patrons. The event serves as combination fundraiser and fun-night-out and invariably helps bring the tight-knit Woodhull school community even closer together.
Parents Christina Plant, Allison Reiver, Linda Drace and Donna Rollo coordinated the evening. Teachers and support staff joined droves of parents and children at the ninth annual event. Woodhull sixth graders worked as waiters and waitresses, serving meals, beverages and even desserts. In all, more than 100 youngsters participated as servers.
Parents of sixth graders cooked the food and decorated the school cafeteria and gymnasium so it resembled a real-life Italian restaurant. Nearby tables were lined with over 40 raffle baskets filled with items donated by local businesses and Woodhull families.
Sixth grade teachers were on hand to help supervise the servers and assist in the kitchen, too. Pasta Night is the Woodhull PTA’s biggest fundraiser of the year. Proceeds from the evening will help fund an assortment of activities the PTA has planned for students.
If the many smiles flashed on faces were any indication, this year’s Pasta Night hit just the right spot.
