Huntington School Board Notes
Trustees approved Huntington physical education/athletic department secretary Carol McGovern’s retirement, effective June 30. J. Taylor Middle School teacher’s aide Ronni Meier is also retiring, effective June 27.
Martin Howfield, a foreign language/ESL teacher at J. Taylor Finley Middle School has resigned his position, effective, March 30.
Huntington High School art teacher Heather Swan had the stipend she receives for serving as the video club advisor increased from $1,086 to $3,154.
Flower Hill classroom teacher Suzanne Proimos was approved to return from a leave of absence, effective April 2.
Alyson Alvarez was authorized to work as a home tutor at the rate of $45.77 per hour.
Trustees accepted the donation by Assistant Superintendent Joseph Giani of a Canon T-70 camera and telephoto lens valued at $150. The donation of two televisions and 40 classroom calculators to Huntington Intermediate School by the New York Islanders Hockey Club was also accepted.
Sandra Daniels, Ann Green, Michael Nelson, Kevin Osborne, Jaclyn Patino, Dore Schreibman, Kristen D’Alimonte and Elyse Zois were added to the district’s list of instructional substitutes. They will be paid $90 per diem when they work.
Huntington High School security guard Christopher Bamfo was granted a leave to serve in the United States military, effective May 5.
Trustees approved an updated agreement between the district and the American Red Cross for use of school facilities as emergency shelters in the event of a natural disaster.
Margaret Mary Herrmann (clerical) and Isabel Cosgrove (aide) were added to the district’s list of non-instructional substitutes. They will be paid on a per diem basis when they work.
Trustees approved a budget transfer request submitted by Director of Math Wayne Edwards in the amount of $145 to cover the cost of refreshments at Finley Mathletes competitions.
The next meeting of the Huntington School Board is scheduled for Monday, March 31 at Huntington Intermediate School at 7:30 pm.
Anne Marie Romeo and Jovan Hairston were approved to work as supervisors at athletic events. They will be paid at the rate of $29.63 per hour.
Julissa Garris (10 days at $443.55 per diem) and Kathleen Mallen Ozimkowski (10 days at $310.43) were approved to complete triennial re-evaluations and annual reviews, effective May 5.
Science teacher Craig McKee was approved to work 2.5 hours at the high school’s Science Trilogy Night at the rate of $45.77 per hour.
