Blue Devils Boys’ Basketball Garners Post-Season Honors
Four Huntington boys’ basketball players earned post-season honors following the Blue Devils’ late season surge that led to a playoff berth.
Alex Brown (All-Conference), Anthony Brown (All-League), Teddy Calligeros (All-League honorable mention) and Matt Duffy (All-League honorable mention) were each recognized. The Blue Devils, who were coached by Mike Schmitz and Tim Madden, finished tied for third in league play with an 8-6 record. The team lost to heavily favored John Glenn in the playoffs.
Alex Brown, a 6’0 175 lb. senior guard is the only post-season honoree set to graduate from the group as Anthony Brown (5’11, 165 lbs.), Duffy (5’9, 135 lbs.) and Calligeros (6’4, 190 lbs.) are all juniors.
In addition to Alex Brown, Huntington will graduate seniors James Beck, Peter Delfino, Luke Forster, Mike Faulter, Pat Coffey and Devron Jenkins. The team will also return Stevens Merilan and Chris Lau. Players from this past season’s junior varsity team will help fill out the varsity ranks next winter.
