Judson and Moreira Appointed Huntington High School Teachers
When Huntington High School reopens in September, students will see many new faces, including teachers Terrance Judson (ESL/social studies) and Ingrid Moreira (foreign language). The pair is among dozens of appointments across the district approved by school trustees.
Terrance Judson
Mr. Judson earned his undergraduate degree in 1990 at Queens College and obtained a Master of Arts degree in 1995 at Columbia University. Prior to coming to Huntington, he worked at the International High School at LaGuardia Community College, teaching social studies, English, career education and drama to ESL students since Feb. 1992. He was a staff developer for history and English at the American Social History Project from Sept. 2000 to May 2002.
District officials reviewed 65 applications and conducted 15 interviews before recommending Mr. Judson for appointment. Since he was previously tenured in New York State, he will only be required to serve a two-year probationary period and will be eligible for tenure on Sept. 1, 2010.
Ingrid Moreira
Ms. Moreira graduated from Queens College in June 1993 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in language (Spanish and French). She also earned a diploma for study at the Universidad de Leon in Spain and obtained a Master of Science degree in education at Molloy College.
Prior to coming to Huntington, Ms. Moreira worked at the Unity Bilingual School in Buenos Aires, Argentina as a middle school Spanish and English teacher (Mar. – Sept. 1997), as a substitute ESL teacher at Glen Cove High School (Feb. – April 1999), as an ESL teacher for parents in the Copiague school district (Oct. 2001 – May 2002) and as an ESL teacher for adult learners in the Roslyn school district/Nassau BOCES from Sept. 1999 to Jan. 2008.
District officials reviewed 40 applications and conducted eight interviews before recommending Ms. Moreira for appointment. She is eligible for tenure on Sept. 1, 2011.
