Toys for Tots Receives Huntington High School Boost

The annual Toys for Tots program received a boost from the Huntington High School community, which pitched in and donated items for needy youngsters who love a gift just as much as other children.

A pair of United States Marines as well as three members of the Marine Corps League, Huntington Detachment #792 were greeted by Huntington Principal Carmela Leonardi and presented with a box filled with toys.  William Ober, commandant of the local group, was among the contingent.  He is a former crew team coach at the school and a key player in local Toys for Tots drives.

“The primary goal of Toys for Tots is to deliver, through a shiny new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to needy youngsters that will motivate them to grow into responsible, productive, patriotic citizens and community leaders,” according to the program’s website.
