Students in grades 9-12 are eligible. Students can register for either a one-semester or full-year course placement.
“This course revolves around developing and completing a science project to compete in local, state or national science competitions,” according to the high school course guide. “Development of real world skills, such as oral and written communication, statistical analysis and technology will be part of the curriculum. Students will be assessed by a portfolio that includes written work, project proposals and research analysis and log data entry.”
Students can enroll in the course in successive years. College credit is available to juniors and seniors who meet specific criteria. For additional information on the program contact Huntington Director of Science Ken Graham at 673-2078 or e-mail him at kgraham@hufsd.edu.

The Huntington High School English Department offers a one-semester advanced composition course. The class is an introduction to literary research and writing in language arts. “Four styles of writing will be addressed: Report writing, analytical writing, persuasive writing and response to literature,” states a description found in the high school course bulletin. “Students will learn to write about literature in meaningful ways and employ crucial language usage skills. While the course is designed primarily to support students transitioning from Regents into honors English courses, it is recommended that all AP or honors students take this course sometime before 12th grade.”
For more information on the course contact Huntington Director of Humanities Joseph Leavy at 673-2079 or e-mail him at jleavy@hufsd.edu.
